Guitar.com Live: the incredibly talented Mateus Asato sat down for an interview with us over the weekend, where he discussed his relationship with Suhr – from having his manager insist he tries the brand’s guitars, all the way to the R&D behind his latest signature model. You can watch the full interview above.
The interview follows the launch of Asato’s own take on Suhr’s classic T. The new guitar comes with a top-bound Swamp Ash body and a beautiful ‘3A’ Roasted Birdseye neck, finished in a clean piano black.
Mateus and John Suhr also co-designed two new custom pickups for this new guitar. John Suhr painstakingly hand-wound a number of different neck and bridge pickups, allowing Mateus to find the perfect combination. The final pickups use a hand-wound pattern but are machine-wound for repeatability.
