Seymour Duncan has teamed up with country guitar great Brad Paisley to produce the Secret Agent, a single-coil neck pickup for the Fender Esquire.

The aptly named Secret Agent was designed to be hidden under the pickguard of the single-pickup Fender Esquire in order to bring the tonal options of a traditional Telecaster, without ruining the guitar’s classic look.

Its construction includes a medium-output ceramic bar magnet, and since it’s positioned relatively far away from the strings, its output is full and warm, almost like something you would find in a neck pickup voiced for jazz. Altogether, quite the contrast from the Esquire’s bridge pickup bite.

The release of the pickup is timely, as Fender also recently announced the return of the Esquire in a special 70th Anniversary Edition – only produced in 2020. The announcement came alongside a slew of other announcements from Fender, including the return of its Road Worn series.

The Brad Paisley Signature Custom Shop Secret Agent Esquire Neck Pickup is part of the Custom Shop series and is available for $130.
