Stone Temple Pilots have released Fare Thee Well, a new track from their upcoming acoustic album, Perdida.

Fare Thee Well (and the rest of Perdida) was recorded at drummer Eric Ketz’s Bomb Shelter Studio. The song is about “being on the road” and “an observation about life”, bassist Robert DeLeo told Rolling Stone.

He added that Perdida was “an album [the band have] been wanting to make for quite some time”. Singer Jeff Gutt, who wrote most of the lyrics, also revealed that the record was a personal one for him. “I was looking back at difficult moments in my life… trying to be vulnerable and that’s a scary thing to do, but it’s also kind of comfortable,” he said.

Perdida will be Stone Temple Pilots’ eighth album, and their second since Gutt joined the band in 2017. It will be released 7 February 2020, and STP will begin touring behind it two days prior to its release.

The tour, titled An Evening With Stone Temple Pilots, kicks off at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver (7 February). This tour joins STP’s previously announced dates in Australia with Bush and Live in April 2020.
