Eddie Van Halen (1955–2020) was an American guitarist and songwriter, best known as the co-founder of Van Halen. A pioneer of rock guitar, he popularised two-handed tapping and influenced generations. With multi-platinum albums like Van Halen (1978) and 1984, the band won a Grammy and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
