Avenged Sevenfold guitarist Synyster Gates has announced two new Schecter Synyster Custom signature guitars.

The Red Rum version of the Synyster Custom comes with black hardware and a red-and-black pinstripe design, while the Golden Goddess version comes with gold hardware and gold-and-white pinstripes on the mahogany body. The ebony fretboard of each guitar features glow-in-the-dark fret dots, and custom fretboard inlays with ‘Syn’ across frets five, seven and nine, and an Avenged Sevenfold Death Bat at the 12th fret.

Updates on the previous versions of the Synyster Custom include new ergonomic back contours and a Floyd Rose 15000 bridge. For the electronics, each model is loaded with Synyster Gates’ signature Schecter humbucker, which Schecter says “pushes almost 18k DCR while retaining incredible detail and dynamic response, and is hand-potted to eliminate squeal and feedback, even at ungodly volumes.”

Gates said of the Red Rum guitar: “This is one of the first colour schemes I did for my signature guitar and I love that there was such a huge desire from you guys to bring it back! This is the first time I’ve seen or heard it with my signature pickups and I’m beyond excited to see and hear you guys play this evil murdering mother fucker!”

And of the Golden Goddess, Gates said: “This is quite possibly my favourite look and it’s been a while since it’s been around. The high-gloss finish also adds to a bit of brightness to the tone and I love recording heavy rhythms with this one because it gives the track some extra heavy metal edge.

I also love playing these guitars live on songs with lower tunings such as “Hail to the King” and “Paradigm”. They convey a super heavy but articulate sound that really drives and cuts through the mix on or off the stage. My soloing on this guitar tends to be a bit more aggressive as well. I really love playing big fat bends and vibrato in the style of Dimebag Darrell, and the Golden Goddess screams for me!”

Both guitars list for $1,899. All units have been signed on the back by Synyster Gates. More information at syngatesstore.com.
