Chapman Guitars has launched the Thomann-exclusive ML2J, a single-pickup single-cutaway guitar in two versions: the Modern and Traditional.

Both guitars share a mahogany body, an ebony fingerboard, 22 frets and a C-shape and set construction for the mahogany neck. Both also control their single pickup with a master volume and tone control, as well as a wraparound tailpiece.

The difference comes in the finish and the pickup selection: the Modern version comes in a deep cherry stain, and sports a black hardware, down to the Chapman Stentorian Zerø humbucker. This pickup means this version is voiced more for (as the guitar’s name suggests) modern hard rock and metal than its Traditional counterpart. The Modern version also lets you split its humbucker with a push-pull tone pot.

The Traditional, on the other hand, comes loaded with a Chapman P90 single-coil, and has a slightly different tone control placement. As the pickup is a P90, the tone knob is also not push-pull on this guitar. Colour-wise, this version comes finished in a satin teal, with a creamy-off white pickguard and body binding and chrome hardware – harkening back to a far more vintage set of aesthetic sensibilities than the aggressive look of the Modern version.

Both guitars list for €599, and are available for preorder now. Find out more over at the product pages for the Modern and Traditional at thomann.de.
