Gretsch celebrates its 140th anniversary with the blingtastic Double Platinum collection
The collection is to honour Gretsch’s historic past while providing essential features, according to the guitar brand.

Gretsch is celebrating its 140th anniversary in style with a glitzy Double Platinum Anniversary Collection.
The blingtastic collection is in commemoration of the brand’s historic past, while proving essential features for modern players.
The first guitar in the collection is the G6136T-140 LTD 140th Double Platinum Falcon TM Hollow Body with String-Thru Bigsby. It features a solid Adirondack Red Spruce top paired with maple back and sides. The pickups are FT-67 Filter’Tron humbucking pickups, with an Adjusto-Matic bridge and a pinned ebony base and a String-Thru Bigsby B6CP tailpiece. It also dons a commemorative 140th Anniversary head plaque on the headstock with chrome hardware with a Nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The guitar is available in Two Tone Platinum over Stone Platinum and is priced at £3,949.
Next, is the G6134T-140 LTD 140th Double Platinum Penguin with String-Thru Bigsby, inspired by the 50s and 60s golden age. The specifications are identical to the G6136T-140. However, the guitar comes with a G6238XL Gretsch deluxe solid body hard shell case for protection and storage. It is available in Two-Tone Stone Platinum over Pure Platinum. It is priced at £3,399.
G6118T-140 LTD 140th Double Platinum Anniversary with String-Thru Bigsby features a Solid Adirondack Red Spruce top paired with maple back and sides. Like the previous two guitars, it is also available in Two Tone Pure Platinum over Stone Platinum. It is priced at £2,599.
G5420T-140 Electromatic 140th Double Platinum Hollow Body with Bigsby is inspired by the 50s and 60s. This anniversary edition features FT-5E Filter’Tron pickup, and is available in Two-Tone Pearl Platinum over Stone Platinum. It is priced at £949.
The G5622T-140 Electromatic 140th Double Platinum Center Block with Bigsby, features a double-cutaway maple body with a chambered spruce centre block, a 12”-radius laurel fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and black Top Broad’Tron humbucking pickups. It is available in Two-Tone Stone Platinum over Pearl Platinum, and is priced at £849.
Finally, the G5230T-140 Electromatic 140th Double Platinum Jet with Bigsby. Coined by Gretsch as the hallmark guitar for iconic players, the special anniversary edition of this guitar features a chambered mahogany body with maple top, and FT-5E Filter’Tron humbucking pickups. Available in Two-Tone Stone Platinumover Pearl Platinum, and is priced at £649.
The collection will be available in May this year.
