Solar Guitars launches new six- and seven-string models

Ola Englund doesn’t know how to slow down.

We’re struggling to keep up with Solar Guitars. Ola Englund’s company has announced close to a dozen instruments this year, and it isn’t finished yet. The brand has just unveiled two new guitars: the top-of-the-line A1.6 Artist LTD BOP and A1.7 Artist LTD BOP.

As their names suggest, these are six- and seven-string guitars—with 25.5- and 26.5-inch scale lengths, respectively—that are otherwise identically spec’ed out. The biggest difference between these new models and existing A1.6s is the finish and tonewoods: A Black Open Pore finish flaunts the grain of the swamp ash body, while still keeping true to Solar’s understated aesthetic.

Elsewhere, the A1.6 and A1.7 BOP have a pair of Duncan Solar humbuckers, EverTune bridges, Grover locking tuners, “C”-shaped maple necks, 13.75-inch-radius ebony fretboards, and 24 super jumbo frets.

Check out Solar’s other 2018 models here, here and here, or watch both these new guitars in action here:

The A1.6 Artist LTD BOP lists for $1,199, and the A1.7 Artist LTD BOP lists for $1,299. For more info, check out solar-guitars.com.
