Charlie Watts (1941–2021) began his career in the early 1960s as a jazz-influenced drummer. Joining the Rolling Stones in 1963, he became a key figure in rock and blues rock while also leading his own jazz groups. A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, his work remains widely recognised.
