​Sister Rosetta Tharpe (1915–1973) was an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist who blended gospel lyrics with electric guitar, influencing early rock and roll. Her notable recordings include "This Train" (1939) and "Strange Things Happening Every Day" (1945). She was posthumously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.
