We recently caught up with Barrie Cadogan at Gibson’s London HQ, where he put a 1959 Gibson Les Paul through its paces on video and shared his perspective on the iconic model.

The accomplished guitarist – who’s played with the likes of Primal Scream, Little Barrie and The The – discusses the backstory of the six-string in his hand. While admiring the axe’s patina, he marvels at the lifetime’s worth of music stored up in vintage instruments.

Cadogan also touches on the guitar’s ability to inspire. “When you hear those sounds, [you realise] it’s a really musical guitar. It’s more than just sort of a loud hard rock guitar. There are loads of nuances to it, and loads you can get out of it,” he explains.
