Charvel brought along four new axes to Summer NAMM 2018, and they’re all performance Super Strats.

The line-up includes a pair of Pro-Mod DK24 models, a Super Stock Model 1888, and a signature SD24 for Miss May I guitarist Justin Aufdemkampe. Read on for the deets.

Pro-Mod DK24 HSS and Pro-Mod DK24 HSH

The Pro-Mod DK24 HSS in Satin Shell Pink

These bad boys join the dual-humbucking Pro-Mod DK24 in Charvel’s family of modern guitars made for rock and metal.

Crafted with shredders in mind, the guitars are built with a two-piece caramelized maple “speed” neck on an alder Dinky body. Their 12- to 16-inch compound radius fretboards, 24 jumbo frets and rolled edges also make them a joy for lightning-fast players. The package is topped off by a recessed Gotoh Custom 510 Tremolo bridge and locking tuners.

Where the HSS and HSH differ are its pickups and finishes. Both six-strings are equipped with Seymour Duncans: custom Full Shred SH-10B humbuckers in the bridge and Custom Flat Strat SSL-6 single-coils in the middle. The HSS has another Custom Flat Strat SSL-6 at the neck while the HSH has an Alnico II Pro APH-1N humbucker in that position.

And you gotta love the colors available on both guitars. The HSS comes in two millennial-friendly pastel shades of Satin Shell Pink and Primer Gray, while the HSH adopts a ‘camo’ vibe with Satin Orange Crush and Matte Army Drab finishes.

Both guitars list for $1,360.53.

Limited Edition Super Stock Model 1888

Charvel Limited Edition Super Stock Model 1888

Its ferocious looks are an homage to the classic Charvel Model 88 from the ’80s, but the Model 1888 packs a few modern touches.

A 12- to 16-inch compound radius ebony fretboard, with pearloid sharkfin inlays, sit atop a graphite-reinforced one-piece maple “speed” neck. That’s bolted onto a mahogany Dinky body, which bears a glossy Dark Brown Sunburst finish. And as finishing aesthetic touches, this guitar has a reverse pointed headstock and all-black hardware. Wicked.

In the electronics department, the Model 1888 is a true beast, too. It has a HS pickup configuration that comprises a high-output DiMarzio Super Distortion DP218 at the neck and a DiMarzio Super Distortion at the bridge.

The Model 1888 lists for $1,360.53.

Limited Edition Signature Pro-Mod SD24 Justin Aufdemkempe

Charvel Signature Pro-Mod SD24 Justin Aufdemkempe

Designed for Justin Aufdemkempe of metalcore band Miss May I, this Pro-Mod SD24 has got all the features to do justice to the aggressive guitarist’s craft.

This Trans Red beauty comes in a classic mahogany San Dimas body with a Charvel HT6 string-through-body hardtail bridge slapped on at the end. It’s built with a two-piece bolt-on maple “speed” neck, and shares a similar compound radius maple fretboard that you’ll find on the regular DK24s. Twenty-four jumbo frets with rolled edges make the guitar a cinch to play, too.

Loyal to Aufdemkempe’s style, this SD24’s pickups are a combination of a Fender Texas Special single-coil at the neck and a Seymour Duncan Distortion SH-6B at the bridge.

And spicing things up is a big, bright red kill switch, which can be tapped to create sudden, staccato mutes.

The Justin Aufdemkampe Signature Pro-Mod SD24 lists for $1,496.59.
