Fender has announced the Strat Jazz Deluxe, a guitar that combines the offset body of a Jazzmaster with the electronics of a Stratocaster.

The guitar is the latest addition to the brand’s Parallel Universe Vol. II series. And if it all sounds like a case of déjà vu, you’re likely remembering last year’s Jazz Strat – that model reverses the concept, with Jazzmaster electronics on a Stratocaster body.

The Strat Jazz Deluxe’s body combines an alder back with a flame maple top and a modern C-shaped neck fashioned completely out of rosewood. Aside from giving the guitar a striking look, the rosewood neck is also said to offer a rich tonality. Atop that, the fingerboard has 22 narrow tall frets and white pearloid block inlays. The guitar’s slightly transparent Faded Seafoam Green nitro finish also works well to complement the swirly appearance of the figured maple top.

Pickups on the Strat Jazz Deluxe are a set of Texas Special overwound single-coils, which provide “midrange chirp, crystalline highs and tight bass” with a strong Texas blues flavour. Controls include master volume and tone knobs, as well as a five-way pickup selector.

As for hardware, there’s a two-point tremolo, Fender ClassicGear tuners and a bone nut. Rounding off the guitar are premium appointments that include a laser-etched Fender headstock logo, a single-ply gold pickguard and Aged White “Witch Hat” knobs.
