Fender has teamed with multi-instrumentalist Tash Sultana on a signature Stratocaster model. The guitar features a HSS configuration and an eye-catching transparent red finish against all gold hardware.
The Strat begins with an alder body coated in a Transparent Cherry gloss finish. Paired to that is a deep C maple neck with 22 narrow tall frets, as well as a matching headstock. The fingerboard is also of maple, and has a 9.5″ radius.

Offering a wide sonic palette, the Tash Sultana Stratocaster comes outfitted with two Yosemite single-coils in the neck and middle position, as well as a custom alnico-four endowed Double Tap Humbucker. These route to a five-position blade selector, a volume knob and two tone knobs. One of the tone knobs has a push-pull function which splits the humbucker into single-coils for yet more tones on tap.
The rich variety of tones fit the needs of Sultana whose musical approach involves looping intricate guitar layers atop each other.
As for the guitar’s gold hardware, there’s a vintage-style synchronised tremolo, Fender tuning machines and a three-ply Aged White Pearl pickguard. The neck plate is custom, and sports a custom engraved artwork.

Along with the launch, Fender spoke to Tash about their track Pretty Lady, as well as the process behind creating the new Stratocaster. Take a look below.
