The Les Paul Special Tribute line was first announced as part of Gibson’s impressive lineup at Winter NAMM 2020, but now the guitars have been launched and are available to order.

The new slab-bodied single-cut is available in two pickup configurations, loaded with two P-90s or a set of 490R and 490T humbuckers. Open-coils on the humbuckers mean you still get the less restrained chime that the Special is known for, even without the signature single-coil pickups. Continuing to draw from the vintage Les Paul Special roots of the guitars, both come with a mahogany body, a rounded maple neck topped with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard.

Both are also fitted with vintage deluxe white button tuners, running down a standard Les Paul scale-length of 24.75 inches to a chrome wraparound tailpiece, which is compensated but not individually intonatable.

Both configurations of the Modern Collection Les Paul Special Tribute are handmade in Nashville and come in a choice of vintage satin finishes: Worn White, Vintage Cherry, Ebony or Natural Walnut.

The guitars list for $999. For more information, head over to gibson.com. For more gear news, click here.
