Pedal manufacturer Mad Professor’s production-line factory has been running at somewhat reduced capacity, thanks to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. However, the brand has used the time freed up to introduce a new limited run of custom pedals.

The Nashville Hot Mids solo boost is a modded version of the brand’s Ruby Red Rooster, with more of a focus on the upper-mids – aiming to make solos cut even more. The Ruby Red Rooster was originally only a treble booster, and so had less focus on these upper mid frequencies – as Mad Professor puts it, “This new mod makes for a thick and sparkly lead tone as the carefully chosen hot midrange frequencies are added to the treble pot, which is now bringing up a perfect blend of presence and mids. Exactly what is needed to make your solos to be heard! These cats in Nashville with enormous time on stages and studios know what they are talking about when it comes to guitar solos!”

Like the original, the pedal is governed by three controls – master, treble and boost, however with the treble pot now introducing more upper-mid frequencies as it’s cranked clockwise.

The pedals have been hand-modded in the Mad Professor headquarters in Finland, and are available until further notice, listing for €208. Find out more at mpamp.com.
