Trickfish Amplification has launched the Minnow, a combined Preamp and DI box for bass guitars designed for both live and studio use.

The all-in-one one box features extensive tone-shaping controls and I/O, as well as all the features you’d expect from an active DI box. It uses Trickfish’s Bullhead preamp section, which comes with a four-band EQ, and a master gain and volume control.

The bass and treble controls are shelving, for amplification or attenuation of the extreme highs and lows that might wreak havoc on a mix. The two midrange bands and the treble band each have switchable frequency options for precise control. Signal level and clip indicator LEDs quickly let you know how to balance your levels for the best tone.

The Minnow also comes with some utility features – such as mute switch disables all output except the tuner output, and the ground lift, which should isolate your signal from the 60-cycle-hum of any noisy stage or studio electronics.

The DI functionality and XLR-out allow for use of the pedal straight into a mixing desk, whether on stage or off, but the quarter-inch jack output means the pedal can be used in front of a separate amplifier, or as part of a longer effects chain.

The Minnow lists for $329. More information at trickfishamps.com.
