The latest pedal from Mad Professor, Kosmos, is a treasure chest of reverbs. The stompbox packs 11 types of reverbs, with controls for each, that range from shimmering ambiance to a smooth, syrupy swell.

The reverbs range from the somewhat familiar—plate, room, spring, and hall—to the more exotic, such as those laced with swell, shimmer or delay. Turn a rotary knob to select the mode, then tweak to taste using four knobs: “Level,” “Tone,” “Time” and “Control.” The Control knob changes function with each reverb type—it can be used to adjust parameters such as the swell rise speed, shimmer ratio or delay level.

Apart from bypassing the unit, the lone footswitch on the Kosmos can be held down for a freeze function ambient effect or to create a beautiful swell, depending on the reverb type. A wet-only mode and analog dry path round up the remaining features on this gadget.
