“He’s a role model for so many people – he should be encouraging people to write guitar solos”: Bradley Hall criticises Kirk Hammett on recent solo comments
The Metallica guitarist recently said the “majority of the listening world, they are not going to remember guitar solos”.

Famed for his uncut hot takes, YouTuber Bradley Hall has shared a new video criticising Kirk Hammett’s recent comments about the state of guitar solos.
In a recent interview with Total Guitar, Hammett expressed that he has felt a lack of appreciation for the skill as of late, saying: “I hate to say it for all your readers out there, but non-musicians, who are the majority of the fucking listening world, they are not going to remember guitar solos.”
Hall has since responded, aiming several digs towards Hammett. He says: “Kirk isn’t a good improviser”, and is “no Guthrie Govan”.
The YouTuber adds that Hammett has a history of “bad takes”, and goes on to disagree with his statement about the current state of guitar solos.
This isn’t the first time Hall has made comments about Hammett, having previously shared videos such as ‘Metallica “Lux Æterna” But The Solo Doesn’t Suck’, ‘EVERY Kirk Hammett Solo Ever’, and ‘Kirk Hammett Has BEEF With Me! Oh My God’ to list a few.
But despite the pair’s previous “beef”, Hall says he partially agrees with Hammett. Hall says, “I agree, it depends on how strong the solo is”, and that guitarists are likely to listen to them more intently.
He also goes on to compliment Hammett for his previous solos in his early Metallica albums, later concluding, “He’s a role model for so many kids and adults alike. A lot of people will take what he says as gospel. He should be encouraging people to write good guitar solos, no matter what they are.”
Hall has made a name for himself on YouTube for his tongue-in-cheek wit and killer guitar chops. At the time of writing, his YouTube channel boasts 465,000 subscribers, and his latest video on his Kirk Hammett beef is approaching 100,000 views.
