Wolfgang Van Halen will support Guns N’ Roses on their rescheduled USA tour

It was initially set to go ahead last summer.

Guns N’ Roses have announced new dates for their tour of the US, which was initially slated to happen last year, and postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The tour will feature support from Mammoth WVH, the solo project of Wolfgang Van Halen.

Alongside Wolfgang, the tour adds 14 new dates, and will now begin on 31 July 2021 at the Hersheypark Stadium in Pennsylvania. It will end on 3 October 2021, at Florida’s Hard Rock Live arena.

The announcement comes just ahead of the release of Wolfgang Van Halen’s debut record with Mammoth WVH, on which he played every instrument – including his father’s famed Frankenstrat. Speaking to Total Guitar, Wolfgang was asked if he used any of Eddie’s gear on the recording of the debut solo effort. He replied: “Yeah, a handful of it. I played the original Frankenstein on the solo on Mammoth and on Feel.”

He noted that even though the guitar was his father’s, he still was aware of the guitar’s status as an instrument. “You feel the history. It’s kind of terrifying holding it,” he said, “just because arguably it is the most famous guitar in musical history. It’s definitely quite the thing to hold it.” The self-titled debut will be released 11 June.

Tickets for the new version of the Guns N’ Roses tour will go on sale on Friday 4 June. Find out more here. The full list of dates is below.
