Squier updates the J Mascis Jazzmaster
The Jazzmaster’s rosewood fretboard swapped out for an Indian laurel one.
Squier has unveiled the 2018 model for the J Mascis Jazzmaster. The signature axe for the Dinosaur Jr frontman now sports an Indian laurel fretboard, which replaces the rosewood fretboard found in the original.
This update is likely a result of the 2017 CITES regulations, which affect the way instruments with rosewood (and a few other wood types) parts are distributed around the world.
Besides that, everything else looks to be unchanged. The Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster sports a gold anodized aluminum pickguard, floating tremolo and Vintage White finish. Other features include a basswood body, maple C-shaped neck, 21 jumbo frets, and a pair of Jazzmaster single-coils.
