Yamaha has announced that it will be releasing a new limited run of the beloved Pacifica 612VIIFM, this time in new finishes to accentuate the guitar’s flame maple top.

The last time this happened was back in 2016, but this year’s colorways are a little sexier: Indigo Blue and Translucent Black. Just like the last run, only 100 pieces will be up for grabs in the US, so don’t sleep on this if you’re a Pacifica fan.

Body and build

The 612VIIFM is a top-of-the-line Pacifica and its build quality is congruous to that. It features a double-cut, beveled alder body that’s comfortable to play, but more importantly supplies a balanced resonance. It also has a bolt-on maple neck and a rosewood fingerboard that feels smooth under your fingers.

Electronics and hardware

This axe comes with so many bells and whistles it’s difficult to pick where to start. Let’s go with the pickups. In the neck and middle positions are two SSL-1 single-coils, and in the bridge position is a TB-14. The single-coils has your typical bluesy voice, but the hot TremBucker, on the other hand, packs a real punch.

Other features include five-way switching, a Wilkinson VS50-6 tremolo bridge, Grover locking tuners and Graph Tech TUSQ nut and saddles.

The Pacifica 612VIIFM lists for $1,050, and will ship in August 2018. Learn more about it at yamaha.com.
