Forty bucks won’t score you much when it comes to guitar pedals. But if you know a thing or two about simple soldering and don’t really care about brands, then check out the new pedal kit from Mod Kits DIY: The Penetrator.
The gloriously named stompbox is a treble boost that adds enough “glistening harmonics” to push your amp into overdrive, the company claims. Everything about the pedal is utilitarian: There’s only one knob to adjust the level of boost, and it’s housed in a no-nonsense aluminum enclosure.
And like all Mod Kits DIY’s products, this one comes with easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions. All you need are a few hand tools, a soldering iron and some solder.
