Epiphone’s first Inspired By Gibson acoustics are the Hummingbird, J-45 and J-200

These iconic acoustics get the Inspired By Gibson treatment.

Epiphone’s Inspired By Gibson series has expanded to the realm of acoustics with the launch of the Hummingbird, J-45 and J-200. Like the Les Paul and SG models that launched the series, these aim to stay as true to their original forebears as possible.

The guitars came as part of several new launches from Epiphone. Other new models include reissues of the Crestwood, Wilshire and Coronet, as well as Inspired By Gibson versions of the Gibson ES-335 and ES-339.

Epiphone’s take on one of Gibson’s most recognisable acoustics adheres closely to the original in both looks and construction.

It has a solid Sitka spruce top and a mahogany body, while an Indian laurel fingerboard – sat atop a mahogany neck – fits 20 medium jumbo frets and mother of pearl split parallelogram inlays. As for electronics, there’s a Fishman Sonicore under-saddle pickup and a Sonitone Preamp.

Characterful details such as the ornate Hummingbird pickguard also make it onto the instrument. Completing the guitar’s classic look is a Kalamazoo-style headstock, top and back multi-ply binding, and gold Epiphone Deluxe tuners.

The guitar comes as a six- or 12-string in one of two classic Hummingbird finishes: Aged Cherry Sunburst or Aged Antique Natural.

Epiphone’s latest take on Gibson’s best-selling acoustic guitar comes in non-cutaway and single-cutaway editions. Both feature slope-shouldered dreadnought bodies with Sitka spruce tops and solid mahogany backs and sides.

These guitars also have mahogany necks and Indian laurel fingerboards that fit 20 medium jumbo frets, plus a bone nut. In the electronics department, there’s a Fishman Sonicore under-saddle pickup and a Sonitone preamp on board. They come in an Aged Vintage Sunburst gloss finish.
