Fender has launched the American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster, bringing another classic body shape to the Acoustasonic platform. Read the Guitar.com review here.

Like the Stratocaster and Telecaster versions, the American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster is a hybrid guitar that combines a variety of acoustic and electric guitar sounds in one instrument. The core of the acoustic sounds come from Fender’s ‘Acoustic Engine’, which was co-designed with Fishman. The system offers ten different voices on tap: four simulate specific styles of acoustic guitar, while others make use of the new Tim Shaw-designed humbucker in the American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster’s bridge position. A blend knob selects and can blend between the various voices.

The construction of the guitar itself consists of an all-mahogany body, a bolt-on mahogany neck, and an ebony fingerboard and bridge. It comes finished in either Ocean Turquoise, Natural, Tobacco Sunburst, Tungsten, or Arctic White – and as with previous Acoustasonic models, the colour is present on the face of the body, with its bevels and forearm cutaway revealing natural wood grain.

Notably, the American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster is the first in the range to include a humbucker. The Strat and Tele versions only offered a noiseless single coil. Fender said the choice to experiment with the platform was inspired by the Jazzmaster’s history of pushing boundaries.

Billy Martinez, Fender’s vice president for its acoustic and Squier divisions, said: “The culmination of five years of design, building, and refining the form factor and technology of this guitar has been a proud journey. The Jazzmaster was made iconic by inventive musicians looking for a guitar that could deliver unique sounds.

“The Acoustasonic Jazzmaster expands on this tradition. With three powerful pickups and the Fishman Acoustic Engine, all controlled by a single blend knob, the Acoustasonic Jazzmaster now gives the player unmatched sonic versatility.”

The guitar lists for $1,999.99 / £1,879 / €2,099 – find out more at fender.com.
