Fulltone has debuted the CS-OCD-Ge, a custom shop version of its iconic OCD drive pedal. There have been various versions of this stomper, but Fulltone founder Michael Fuller has described this one as the “ultimate OCD”.

What makes it so special? While older OCDs made use of two MOSFETS and one germanium diode, this small run of pedals features an extra germanium diode. These components, along with selected circuit tweaks, have contributed to some tonal improvements, according to Fuller. These include:

  • Better definition
  • More tube-like feel
  • Wider dynamic range
  • Increased sustain
  • More focused single-note tone

In terms of controls, the CS-OCD-Ge is identical to the original OCD. It sports the same three-control layout – volume drive and tone – and two-way frequency toggle.

Wrapping up the ultimate OCD’s look is a sleek Metallic Teal finish and chrome undercoat. According to the brand, the pedal’s finish enables it to morph between shades of blue and green depending on its relative position to light. And of course, no OCD would be complete without a blue LED indicator.

The CS-OCD-Ge is expected to land soon. In the meantime, Fulltone is giving away six pedals on 4 July, and you can enter the competition here.
