Haunted Labs has launched the Scorched Earth, a fuzz pedal that combines vintage silicon clipping hardware with a more modern approach to tone-shaping.

The pedal certainly brings a vintage sense of simplicity, with the tried-and-tested trio of tone, volume and fuzz controls on offer. Haunted Labs describes the character of the fuzz as “like mainlining hot magma into your bloodstream, but in a good way.” Expect quite a lot of gain on tap, then.

The pedal also emphasises harmonic character, giving you that infinite-sustain saturation on higher fuzz settings. While the Scorched Earth presents an old-school fuzz attitude, the tone knob can sweep the sound from creamy smoothness to a more biting, aggressive tone.

The pedal is built in the USA, and runs on standard 9V power. The switching of the effect is true-bypass.

The Scorched Earth lists for $159, and is available to preorder now, expecting to ship in mid-November. More information at hauntedlabs.com.
