Mesa/Boogie has announced the Badlander 100 and 50, two modern additions to the brand’s Rectifier series of guitar amplifiers and cabinets.

Along with offering classic Rectifier-type tones, these amps pack a few fresh features, including Mesa’s CabClone IR technology for easy direct recording and selectable power tubes.

The Badlander amps come in several formats: both the 100-watter and 50-watter are available as a head or rack, while the latter also comes as a combo.

The new amplifiers feature both the classic Rectifier 6L6 and British-voiced EL34 tubes in their power sections, which you can flip between using a bias switch located in the back. Meanwhile, 12AX7 tubes drive the preamp section and a Bold/Variac switch lets you select between an easy-to-saturate signal path or one that emphasises clean headroom.

Both amps sport two independent channels with their own gain, master and tone stack EQ. There are also three selectable modes on hand: Clean, Crunch and Crush, the latter of which is modelled on the classic Rectifier high-gain tone. Plus, a three-way power reduction means cranked tones can be delivered at bedroom levels.

Mesa’s CabClone lets you go direct with the Badlander amps, offering a selection of eight dynamic and ribbon “mic’d” cabinet impulse responses (IRs). On top of the included eight IRs, the Badlander amplifiers support third-party ones – meaning you can throw on your favourite IRs via USB transfer.

For integrating with the rest of your recording or gigging set up, there’s also a fully buffered effects loop, XLR and TRS outputs and a single-button footswitch for channel switching.
