Pickup maker Monty Guitars has launched the Montypresso, a guitar wax that, when applied onto open-grained woods, gives it a rich and dark relic’d look.

The wax can be applied onto fretboards or unfinished bodies fashioned out of open-grained woods. On fretboards, it’s said to not only give the wood the appearance of a well-worn instrument, but the feel of one as well.

Generous amounts of the wax should be applied over several coats and better still, over a period of time to “allow the stain to soak deep into the wood and work its magic.”

Although the stain isn’t aggressive, Monty Guitars cautions that the process is an irreversible one, and warns users to be extra careful when handling the wax around clothing or furnishings. While the ingredients to the wax are a secret, Monty Guitars divulges that it’s been formulated out of all-natural ingredients.

While the brand still hasn’t yet shown off the wax in effect on a guitar, but they have shared an Instagram video explaining more of what it does. Check it out below:

The wax is available either in a coffee cup (small) or in a collectable mug (large). These are available now at an introductory price of £13.33 (usually £16) and £33.33 (usually £41).
