Sterling By Music Man has announced a new edition of the Mariposa, a signature guitar made in collaboration with Mars Volta and At the Drive-In guitarist, Omar Rodríguez-López.

The design was originally introduced in 2019 by Music Man and came with a number of high-end appointments – including a floral laser-etched pickguard design. The Sterling By Music Man edition does not keep all of these premium features, but the same angular design approach remains and the guitar bears a considerably smaller price-tag.

The new edition, the first Mariposa model to be released under the Sterling sub-brand, features a nyatoh body, as well as a 22-fret rosewood fretboard atop a roasted maple neck, locking tuners, a vintage tremolo and a 25.5-inch scale length.

Electronics consist of two Custom Artist humbuckers, chosen with a three-way toggle selector and each with its own volume control.

It comes finished in either Dorado Green or Imperial White and is available now for an affordable $549.99. Find out more at sterlingbymusicman.com.
