On the way from Strandberg: a semi-hollow jazz-focused model?

Strandberg has teased a new electric guitar model, entitled the Sälen Jazz. It’s notably the brand’s first semi-hollow instrument, and the first to be aimed at (somewhat) traditional jazz players.

Writing on social media, the brand shared the first close-ups of the guitar and announced its upcoming spring launch event, set to happen on 6 April. It’s here that the full specifications of the Sälen Jazz will be revealed.

The brand currently offers two guitars under the Sälen name: the Sälen Deluxe and the Sälen Classic. Both are Strandberg’s take on an old-school T-type, with some characteristically modern twists such as fanned frets and the distinct lack of a headstock. They also both have single-coil pickups in their neck and bridge positions, while the photos of the Sälen Jazz model show Strandberg humbuckers instead, directly mounted next to an F-hole.

Also visible on the new model are a fanned 24-fret fretboard, a blade selector switch and a pickguard reminiscent of those found on ES-type models, albeit screwed to the body rather than floating on a brace. Take a look at Strandberg’s Facebook post below.
