TC Electronics has debuted the BAM200 bass head, a portable amp perfect for the stage, studio or bedroom. Despite its tiny form, this rugged unit packs 200 watts of power.
The amp derives its tone from two components: Class-D amplifier technology and a high-voltage Mosfet preamp. The former is responsible for power and sonic performance, while the brand claims the latter delivers “warm sound and immediate feel of an actual tube amp”. Tone can be further tweaked via five onboard controls, including a three-band EQ, master volume knob, and gain knob.
In terms of connectivity, the BAM200 features a balanced XLR DI Out – with a Ground Lift switch – that can connect to recording gear and front of house sound systems. It’s also a great tool for practice, boasting a built-in headphone amp with speaker emulation.
