Xotic effects has announced two new volume pedals: the XVP-250K and the XVP-25K. Each pedal features a die-cast aluminium housing, a tuner-out and an enclosure that’s slightly smaller than the average volume pedal. The range’s construction resembles a traditional Wah more than some other volume pedals do.

Xotic is also keen to distance itself from the trend of string-based mechanisms in volume pedals – saying that the XVP range comes with literally “no strings attached.” Instead, the XVP range uses a rack and pinion to operate the potentiometer for a “super smooth volume sweep under your feet” that’s “highly durable” in comparison to the string-based alternative. The durable focus continues, with cloth-coated hand-wiring connecting the internals.

The two different impedance options each offer their own strengths. The 250K version is more suited for use with passive instruments, while the 25K version is better paired with active outputs or an effects loop. The two pedals are differentiated by their colour, with the XVP-25K coming in Hammerton Red, and the XVP-250K in a gold metallic finish.

The XVP-250K and XVP-25K list for $148.75. More information at Xotic.us.
