Good news for Def Leppard fans: Gibson has just released the limited edition Vivian Campbell Signature Les Paul Custom, including a version that sports that musician’s very own autograph.

The guitar itself is built for hard and fast fretwork acrobatics. It features a ’70s neck profile designed for fast playing, jumbo frets, and DiMarzio Super Distortion on the bridge and DiMarzio Super 3 on the neck. Even the finish screams “rock”—literally. The Antrim Basalt Burst finish is inspired by the coastal rock formations found near Campbell’s hometown in Northern Ireland.

“This instrument is a hybrid of all the best Les Pauls I’ve owned and played over the years,” Campbell said, adding that the signature axe began life as a prototype of a ’78 Les Paul neck affixed to a Les Paul Standard body. “It was this Frankenstein sort of guitar, and I played it [for] many years, and in a sense, that’s what this guitar is based on. It’s a Les Paul Custom neck cloned after the ’70s-shaped neck with a lighter Les Paul Standard body built from the lightest wood we could find.”

The autographed version is pretty much identical, save the musician’s scrawl and price tag. It ain’t cheap, though: The signed axe will cost you an extra $1,000 more than the regular one.

Watch the man himself talk about the guitar here:

The Vivian Campbell Les Paul Custom lists for $4,999, while the signed edition lists for $5,999. For more information, check out gibson.com.
