Nashville indie-grunge outfit Bully have announced their third LP, Sugaregg, and released its first single entitled Where To Start. Take a listen above.

In a statement about the new record, Bully’s Alicia Bognannonoted that the album came out of a complete overhaul to her creative process: “There was change that needed to happen and it happened on this record,” she says. “Derailing my ego and insecurities allowed me to give these songs the attention they deserved.”

She also noted that finding the proper treatment for bipolar 2 disorder helped with this radical alteration: “Being able to finally navigate that opened the door for me to write about it.” One of the changes she singled out was listening to music instead of the news first thing in the morning, which “made me want to write and bring that pleasure to other people.”

Bognanno also handed off engineering and duties to outside collaborators for the first time. She’d previously recorded and produced the band’s first two records, having cut her recording teeth with an internship at a studio run by Steve Albini.

Sugaregg follows Bully’s 2017 LP Losing, and their 2015 debut full-length Feels Like.
