A documentary about vintage guitar aficionado and blues player Joe Bonamassa, entitled Guitar Man, has been announced. It will arrive via Video-On-Demand and digital download on 8 December 2020. There is no word of a theatrical release at the moment, due to the ongoing worldwide pandemic. Take a look at the trailer for the documentary above.

The film dives into Bonamassa’s history with the instrument, from his child-prodigy beginnings, being discovered and mentored by BB King, to his enormous career releasing blues records. As the trailer for the film notes, he’s released more #1 blues albums than anyone else – ever.

Guitar Man presents an “abundance” of music, concert footage and interviews with Bonamassa and other musicians., charting his worldwide tours and continued success, as well as the development of his swaggering on-stage persona.

The film is directed by documentary-makers Philippe Klose and Kevin Shirley, and distributed by Paramount.

Read our latest interview with Joe Bonamassa here, where he chats to us about the challenges of recording in Abbey Road, and what inspired his latest British-blues-tinged record, Royal Tea.
