In light of Brian May’s recent health scare, guitarist Danny Gomez and drummer Chris Allan have assembled together a supergroup of musicians, entitled The Online Champions. The group has recorded a version of his song Driven By You as a message of support to May. take a look at the song above.

The video is introduced by Ben Elton, writer of the We Will Rock You musical, who said “some of us decided to put this message together to send you all our love and to thank you, for all the joy we´ve had in our lives that’s been driven by you!”

Gomez and Allan are soon joined (remotely) by a plethora of musicians, including many from the “Queen extended family,” including We Will Rock You cast members.

May revealed he was hospitalised after suffering a heart attack via Instagram last month, saying that he was in a state “very near death” during the incident. He said that he had opted to treat his heart attack with stents in lieu of a triple-bypass. The procedure went well, and May sang praises about the medical team that tended to him: “When I came around, it was as if nothing had happened. I couldn’t feel that they’d been [in my chest]. I couldn’t feel anything – and I still can’t,” he said. “It’s been amazing. It’s an incredible operation done by the right, skilful person, and I thank them from the bottom of my heart. I walked out with a heart that’s very strong now and I think I’m in good shape for some time to come.”
