Pixies have released a music video for the track Long Rider, taken from the group’s latest record Beneath the Eyrie, released earlier this year.

The video, directed by Gilbert Trejo, pays tribute to a friend of bassist Paz Lenchantin, who died in a surfing accident. Lenchantin said about the song and the concept for the video: “It was almost as if Desiree had this dream before she went surfing that morning, and hints at that even if she had known her fate, she would still have taken that wave.” The video is shot on 16mm and Super 8 film, and features professional surfer Danica Elbertse.

The song was written by Lenchantin and Black Francis. Read our latest interview with Black Francis about Beneath the Eyrie.

Pixies will hit the road in December for a North American tour. Find out more at pixiesmusic.com. For more music news, click here.
