A new Grateful Dead live LP, Ready or Not, has been announced. The album collects previously unreleased live recordings from the early and mid-nineties.
David Lemieux, the band’s archivist, curated the LP. The songs found on Ready or Not, debuted on stage between 1992 and 1993, the recordings being made from then until April 1995 – shortly before lead guitarist and singer Jerry Garcia’s death. The LP aims to imagine the tracklist of the studio album that would have been recorded using this new material.
The announcement comes weeks after the death of Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter.
Ready or Not will be released on CD and double LP on 22 November.
