St Vincent has officially announced her sixth studio album, Daddy’s Home, following a series of teases in the form of vintage posters. Alongside the announcement, she has also released a video for the album’s first single: Pay Your Way In Pain.

The new record is set to arrive on 14 May via Loma Vista Recordings. It follows her 2017 album MASSEDUCTION, as well as 2018’s Mass Education, a vocals-and-piano-only reimagining of the MASSEDUCTION.

The album’s creation began in 2019, when St. Vincent’s father was released from prison, having been incarcerated in 2019. This would inspire her to start writing what would become Daddy’s Home, and revisit the albums he had shown her as a child for its sonic character. St Vincent said of the alum: “Daddy’s Home collects stories of being down and out in downtown NYC. Last night’s heels on the morning train. Glamour that’s been up for three days straight.”

The album was produced by Annie Clark and Jack Antonoff, recorded by Laura Sisk, mixed by Cian Riordan, and mastered by Chris Gehringer. You can see the video for its lead single Pay Your Way In Pain below.
