System Of A Down’s two new songs have raised over $600,000 in donations to the Armenia Fund
The two releases were the band’s first in 15 years.

System Of A Down recently broke their 15-year hiatus when it came to releasing new songs, with the two singles Protect The Land and Genocidal Humanoidz. They were released in a bid to raise awareness about “a dire and serious war being perpetrated upon [their] cultural homelands”, as well as funds for the Armenia Fund. The band are all of Armenian descent.
They have now revealed that the songs have now raised over $600,000 for the fund. In a statement, the band wrote: “We are overwhelmed with gratitude for your incredible support of our campaign for the people of Artsakh, and for helping us raise over $600K so far in donations to provide for those in dire need via the Armenia Fund.
“Because of you, we will be able to help displaced civilians, young and old, who are affected by the hideous war crimes inflicted upon Artsakh by Azerbaijan and Turkey.”
The statement was released alongside an extensive video interview with all four band members, which you can watch below.
This rare full-band interview also marks the first time that frontman Serj Tankian and drummer John Dolmayan have appeared on camera together since the two began voicing their contrasting US political views earlier this year. Frontman Serj Tankian said it is frustrating disagreeing with his bandmate when it came to US politics, but he clarified that the two were on “the exact same page” when it came to issues relating to Armenia.
