The National announce cassette-exclusive live album for Record Store Day Black Friday

The three-tape box set has been recorded with analogue equipment.

American Alt-rockers The National have announced Juicy Sonic Magic, a live three-cassette box-set, exclusive to Record Store Day Black Friday 2019.

The National recorded Juicy Sonic Magic at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA on 24 and 25 September, 2018. The concerts were taped by producer and engineer Erik Flannigan using The Mike Millard Method, using the vintage analogue recording equipment Millard was known for.

Millard, an avid concert-taper, used analogue equipment to tape hundreds of concerts, creating highly sought-after bootlegs with exceptional sound quality.

The triple-cassette box set will release on 29 November as part of Record Store Day Black Friday. A short documentary about Millard and the process of taping the Berkeley concerts from the audience is also in the works, directed by David DuBois.

Juicy Sonic Magic comes after The National’s latest album, I Am Easy To Find, which they released in May earlier this year.
