Ty Segall has released a new covers EP, showcasing his take on six tracks from Harry Nilsson’s 1971 record Nilsson Schmilsson. Riffing on the naming format of that record, the EP is entitled Segall Smeagol.
On the EP, Segall covers Coconut, Gotta Get Up, Drivin Along, Early in the Morning, The Moonbeam Song and Jump into the Fire.
Writing about the release on its Bandcamp page, Segall referenced the current social distancing measures in place and how they led to this record’s inception: “I wanted to cover Nilsson Schmilsson for years, so I used the opportunity of being at home to cover my favorite cuts from the record. So here it is free on Bandcamp”

He’s not the only artist to take advantage of the time spent at home, with many other musicians broadcasting cover sets and songwriting sessions live over the internet.
Segall’s latest solo full-length was First Taste, released in 2019.
