Elvis Costello has shared his latest single, Hetty O’Hara Confidential. It’s been released alongside an animated lyric video: take a look above.

The track shares a similarly synthetic and aggressive percussion to his previous single No Flag, recorded at the same time as this new song.

Costello gave a succinct description of the song in a statement, calling it a “the tale of a tattler who outlives her time.”

The dual singles are the first new material since Elvis Costello And The Imposters’ 2019 EP ‘Purse’. They released their last studio album ‘Look Now’ in 2018.

Both of Costello’s two recent singles were recorded over three days in Helsinki, Finland at Suomenlinnan Studio. “I wanted to go somewhere nobody knew me,” Costello said in a press release alongside No Flag. “So, this is ‘The Helsinki Sound’.”

Earlier in lockdown, Costello conducted a few live-streamed performances, raising money for the UK’s National Health Service as it faced unprecedented strain in the face of the pandemic.
