Wampler drops new reverb and EQ pedals

Wampler Pedals isn’t a company to over-complicate its effects—and the pair of new pedals it released on Friday is further evidence of that philosophy. Reflection and EQuator are two stompboxes whose mission is to produce the tones more common to larger units, but in a slim, non-intimidating package.

Reflection is a fairly straightforward reverb with two modes: a studio-grade plate and a big tank-like spring. The sounds themselves, judging from the demo video below, are nothing to sniff at—luscious, articulate and with none of the high-end ‘shrill’ you tend to get from lesser stompboxes. Couple those with the infinite decay function and a pre-delay of up to 140 milliseconds, and you can take things to the sonic fringes.

EQuator, on the other hand, is a combined parametric and graphic equalizer. And like the Reflection, it’s an extremely player-friendly EQ unit. It packs in a four-band equalizer—bass, treble and two for the midrange—whose frequencies have been pre-defined. You can also dial in the spectrum of midrange frequencies to boost or cut with a pair of knobs, which is useful to color the tone of a drive pedal when the EQuator is placed before it in your chain.
