The Catalinbread Soft Focus is inspired by the Soft Focus patch on the Yamaha FX500, loved by shoegaze bands of the '90s. It improves upon the original, incorporating a mix control, superior preamp, and bypass-friendly tone. The Soft Focus offers a modifiable plate reverb split into three paths for varied effects, including a multi-voiced chorus modulator, reverb-mixed octave-up, and untouched reverb. The Mod and Symphony knobs allow for fine-tuning of chorus rate and octave level, respectively, paired with the tone of the reverb for a wide sound scope. Notably, it intentionally omits a fixed-time digital delay present in the original for better circuit memory.
