Has Fender won the modelling amp war with the Tone Master Deluxe Reverb?

Fender‘s new Tone Master Deluxe Reverb comes at a time when most guitar players are choosing to forego their heads and cabs in favour of smaller amps, profiling amps with in-ear monitors and in some cases no on-stage noise at all. With that in mind, the development of the Tone Master couldn’t come at a more perfect time, with impulse response direct outputs, handy switchable power options and around a 50 per cent reduction in weight.

Here we’ve put the Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb to the test in an A/B shootout with a vintage 1965 Blackface Deluxe Reverb using a 1959 Jazzmaster and 1983 Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer. Watch the video above and let us know which amp you prefer in the comments.

Fender’s Tone Master Deluxe Reverb and Twin Reverb were launched at Summer NAMM 2019, promising accurate digital models of two of the company’s legendary tube amps from the mid-1960s.
