Prior to the release of his acclaimed new album, Further, we sit down with Richard Hawley to talk about the record and all things guitar.
In the first of a new series of videos, Sheffield troubadour Richard Hawley plays his vintage Gibson ES-335 and a Burns Orbit Two, one of the world’s first transistor amplifiers.
In the 20 years that have passed since Richard chose to abandon full-time band life, first with The Longpigs and then as Pulp’s guitarist, the 52-year-old songwriter has since built one of the most singular and diverse careers in modern music.
Alongside releasing numerous solo albums that have managed the rare feat of being both critically acclaimed and commercially successful, Hawley has also worked with a host of impressive collaborators – friends such as Arctic Monkeys, Manic Street Preachers, Elbow and Paul Weller, alongside personal heroes that include the legendary US guitarist Duane Eddy, Shirley Bassey, Nancy Sinatra and Lisa Marie Presley.
