IK Multimedia has teased a new product release, which could be a new version of AmpliTube – the brand’s popular virtual guitar rig builder.

The short video depicts the discovery of what looks to be a massive guitar pick – possibly a V that might indicate Guitar Rig 5. The date given is also 29 October, this Thursday. Notably, AmpliTube 4 came out on 29 October five years ago.

The current iteration of the software is very much in development, having recently seen add-on packs in the form of AmpliTube Brian May and AmpliTube Joe Satriani – both offering virtual recreations of their namesake’s extensive rigs.

As to what the plectrum-esque V actually indicates, we’ll have to wait until Thursday to find out. But all the evidence does point towards the fifth version of AmpliTube. Keen fans in the comments of the above video have also pointed out their desired features for a new version, some of which have become more common since 2015 – for example custom IR loading and multiple I/O options.
