Stolen Gibson Adam Jones signature Les Pauls to be made again for customers who missed out
The serial numbers will be reissued, with a “surprise” change setting the guitars apart from their stolen counterparts.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that thieves had stolen an entire pallet of signature Adam Jones Gibson Les Pauls – with a total value of around $95,000. Now it has been revealed that the brand will make it up to the customers who were left without a new guitar by re-manufacturing the guitars that were stolen.
The 13 customers received a letter from Gibson and Adam Jones stating that “For many of Adam’s fans, these limited-edition guitars are the guitars of their dreams, and this is probably true of you as well.
Therefore, we wanted to let you know that we, Gibson and Adam together, have decided to make the guitars again for you.”
Notably, they won’t be exact replicas of the stolen guitars. “In order to distinguish them from the ones that got stolen, we are going to add a special notation on the headstock, something we believe will make your guitar one of the 13 most special and collectable guitars of the run. We apologise in advance for the suspense, but we prefer to surprise you!”
Gibson also said that it expects the guitars to be in customers’ hands by the first week of February.
The “special notation” will indeed make the guitars incredibly collectable – with only 13 guitars out of an already limited run receiving the mark, these Les Pauls will be some of the most unique instruments out there that aren’t one-off custom jobs.
Aside from making it up to the customers in question, the move also means that the stolen guitars are now even more identifiable – the brand had previously published the serial numbers of the 13 that went missing – but whether that means the thief will be caught remains to be seen.
The launch of the Adam Jones signature Les Paul was a highly anticipated one, and the guitars sold out incredibly quickly. Fans had been speculating on the possibility of a signature version of Adam Jones’ #1 1979 Silverburst for years – and when it did arrive, it did so in style, with a slick animated video that set the launch aside from the crowd.
